It’s funny: I’ve had the name “Edge Wood” stored in my writer storage closet (in my super large head) for so long, it surprised me the first time someone asked how I came up with my hero’s name. In junior high (Yup, I am a proud Gex Xer!) I had a friend whose mom’s name was Edge, and she was super cool. I also had a teacher whose last name was Wood whose husband had a cool name. I liked the two names together. I came up with the explanation that Edge gives in the novel about the origin of her name as I wrote the first draft. It’s kinda magic when ideas (small or big) just flow out when writing, appearing out of seemingly nowhere. That’s the good stuff. :)
And why a truck camper? It’s what I envisioned Sam and I living in (either a truck camper or a big van) when years ago I began dreaming of living in an RV and traveling/working short-term jobs. Thank GOD he said we should get a Class A. Two adults living full time in an RV = need for as much storage and space (with a big engine and tires) as possible! ;)
